Villa Spada is situated in a very quiet position, close to the village of Orbicciano, in the hills east of Lucca. The location is halfway between Lucca and the coastal area of Versilia, famous for the beach resorts of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi. The property is surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and woods, with views encompassing the beautiful panorama of the countryside and valley below.
The villa, built in the 1 8th Century, was the shooting lodge for the Spada family, one of the aristocratic families of Lucca. The original ancient structure, with cotto floors, beamed ceilings and period decorations have been retained.
The rooms have been furnished with antiques throughout. The garden is dominated by a centuries-old lime tree, and there is a swimming pool in the lower part of the garden, in a secluded position, yet close to the villa. On the east side of the house, accessible through the sitting room, is a pretty small terrace where the beautiful views of the countryside can be enjoyed.
